Cash accounts show the interest they earn
A savings or broker cash account is now rated by its interest yield over the last 12 months, against your target return.
A cash account earns interest, and your own deposits and withdrawals are not performance. Cash accounts are now rated by the interest they paid, the way a bank states a yearly rate.
What changed
- The goal badge on a cash account reads interest paid over the last 12 months divided by its average balance, and rates it against your target annual return.
- Cash held at a connected broker now gets a badge too. It used to show a neutral minus.
- An account you added today with years of interest behind it is no longer rated as if it started today, and an account with interest but no deposit no longer reads 0%.
- A cash category shows one yield for all its accounts, weighted by balance.
- A fee on a cash withdrawal now counts under Fees, so your total return adds up.
Under a year of history, the badge compares your interest with your target scaled to the time the account has run. Under 30 days it waits.
