List your expenses, and your goals add them up

Instead of one number you retype when a bill changes, list your monthly expenses by name and category. Your FIRE and emergency fund goals use the total.

A list of expenses grouped by category, a house and a shopping cart, each with an amount, and Monthly and Yearly choices at the bottom

Your FIRE number and your emergency fund both start from one question: what does a month cost you? Until now you typed one total and redid the sum whenever a bill changed. Now you can list the expenses themselves and let the total follow.

How it works

  • Open your FIRE or emergency fund goal and choose Break it down by expense.
  • Add each expense with a name, an amount and a currency. Pick a category with one tap, or type your own.
  • Mark a bill as monthly or yearly. A yearly bill, like insurance, counts a twelfth each month.
  • Everything is shown in your base currency, with a subtotal for each category.

Essential or not

Each expense has an Essential switch. Your emergency fund counts the essential ones, the costs you could not skip with no income. FIRE counts them all. Rent starts as essential and streaming as not, and you can flip either.

Your old number still works

If you never list anything, nothing changes: your goals keep using the number you typed. Once you add an expense, the list takes over. Delete the last one and the typed number is back.

Expenses are typed by hand and stored only on your account. They are in your Excel export too, on their own sheet.
