Your total return now counts what you sold
Gains you locked in by selling, fees and tax withheld on dividends now count in your total return, in the Return card, the holdings list and your exports.
Your total return used to measure what you still hold. Sell half a position at a profit and that profit dropped out of the number, because the money left with the shares.
It now adds every gain you locked in by selling, and a holding you have sold completely still counts.
What changed
- Gains from selling count in the Return card, the profit next to each holding and category, and the PDF and Excel exports.
- A holding you sold completely is rated on what it earned instead of disappearing from the total.
- Dividends count after any tax withheld, and trading fees and costs you log against a property or a car now reduce the return.
- A charge on a cash account is no longer counted twice in your annual return.
If you never sold anything, never paid a fee and never logged a cost, your figures do not move. Otherwise they may read higher or lower, and the new number is the truer one.
